Experience the Project

Tools: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Acrobat, ChatGPT, Envato, ElevenLabs

Overview

This self-paced eLearning module helps career coaches support newly arrived immigrants in understanding common American workplace phrases such as “circle back,” “touch base,” and “loop in.” The purpose of this project was to demonstrate my ability to apply adult-learning principles, such as explicit instruction, chunking, gradual release of responsibility, and context-driven examples.

Analyze

I conducted an informal needs analysis centered on linguistic and cultural onboarding challenges for internationally trained professionals. Many clients were unfamiliar with idiomatic business English commonly used in U.S. office settings, creating barriers in communication and confidence.

From there, I distilled the problem into a key learning need: coaches require a repeatable strategy to teach unfamiliar workplace phrases without overwhelming learners.

Design

I designed the module using a gradual release model (“I Do → We Do → You Do”) and structured the learning with explicit instruction, micro-chunking, and progressive fading of support.

Key design components included:

  • A three-step coaching framework that coaches can use with any workplace phrase

  • Modeled examples of phrases used in emails, meetings, and cross-functional communication

  • A light, accessible visual style aligned to adult-learning best practices and cross-cultural clarity

I storyboarded the entire flow, mapping moments of instructor modeling, joint practice, and independent application to ensure cognitive load was well-managed.

Develop

I built the experience in Articulate Storyline, leveraging:

  • ElevenLabs to create warm, clear narration suitable for an adult-learning audience

  • Envato for culturally inclusive visuals and iconography

  • Custom interactive slides to guide learners through the coaching model with feedback

  • Audio + on-screen text pairings to support multimodal learning

I also used ChatGPT throughout the drafting process to generate example sentences, workplace scenarios, and alternative phrasings, then refined these to maintain authenticity and clarity. A final QA pass ensured flow, consistency, and smooth layering of interaction + narration.

Result

The final module is a clean, well-structured eLearning experience that demonstrates how to teach workplace language with clarity, cultural sensitivity, and instructional rigor. Coaches leave with:

  • A repeatable strategy for breaking down any workplace phrase

  • Contextualized examples ready to use with clients

  • An evidence-based instructional approach that builds learner independence

As a portfolio piece, this project showcases my ability to translate adult learning theory into a practical, engaging module tailored to the needs of internationally trained professionals.
