Overview

This project was designed for the eLearning Heroes Challenge on creating question-and-answer activities using variables. The goal was to move beyond multiple choice by engaging learners in short-response practice paired with model answers, an approach that promotes deeper synthesis and self-checking.

Analyze

Drawing from backward design principles, I identified the performance outcome of preparing for a salary negotiation. As a classroom teacher, I had seen the value of learners creating their own learning supports, so I applied this principle by having learners generate a personalized job-aid script. This approach made the activity authentic, performance-based, and transferable to real-world contexts.

Design

I began with a detailed storyboard template that streamlined the planning process and allowed me to map out realistic scenarios. From there, I sourced and customized imagery in Illustrator and built visual prototypes in Adobe XD to refine layout, hierarchy, and balance before moving into development.

Develop

I built the full module in Articulate Storyline, incorporating animations to heighten engagement and adding a JavaScript function that dynamically inserts the current date into email headers. These touches enhanced realism and interactivity while keeping the focus on applied learning.

Result

The final product is an interactive scenario that challenges learners to create their own salary negotiation script while practicing in a safe, simulated environment. By blending learner-generated content, backward design, and technical enhancements, the project demonstrates how variable-driven interactions can strengthen both engagement and application.
